The United States of America is the third largest country (in both area and population) in the world. It is home to almost 300 million Americans. In the 1840s Americans declared a “Manifest Destiny”—a sense of mission to extend the boundaries of freedom and democracy so that the United States was a vast and great land extending from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Today this vast expanse of almost 3,000 miles is America. This site provides an overview of the beauty of that land and the people that live here. US Geography…America the beautiful…from sea to shining sea!
